With the help of a chain, an armchair is attached to the bar, which serves for cutting chips and carving sparks. It is a plate, the shape of which resembles the silhouette of a fish. It has an optimal size, so it fits well in the hand.
Magnesium flint compares favorably with ordinary ferrocerium, which does not require the use of tinder. If you forgot to prepare paper, cotton wool for ignition at home, and it is difficult to find dry grass, sawdust or birch bark in the forest after rain, magnesium shavings will help out. It will replace tinder. Having a very high combustion temperature, the chips are able to burn even when wet.
