What is an individual first-aid kit of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Obzornaja stat'ja Aptechki i pervaja pomoshh (1) An individual tactical first aid kit is the life and health of a soldier!

Every fighter should have it to provide first aid to himself or a comrade in an emergency.

A first-aid kit is a textile bag (pouch) or a plastic box containing dressings, tools and other devices necessary for providing medical care. A list of medicines must be fixed inside the case.
In the course of compulsory sanitary training, military personnel of all special forces receive basic knowledge about first aid in specific conditions.

Case for first aid kit: selection criteria

Choosing a pouch for a first aid kit is a very important point. In order not to make a mistake, you must be guided by the main criteria:

-

  • the case should not be bulky, in the first place - ergonomics;
  • it must be securely fixed on the fighter’s ammunition, not fall off when running, jumping, crawling, etc. d.;
  • should be easily removed from the equipment and just as easy to open - literally with one movement of the hand;
  • the walls of the pouch must be sufficiently rigid to prevent damage to the glass packaging of medicines; Obzornaja stat'ja Aptechki i pervaja pomoshh (2)
  • the material from which the pouch is sewn must be waterproof, resistant to tearing and other mechanical stress (the main thing is that water, dirt and ultraviolet do not get on the contents);
  • the case for the first-aid kit must have a Velcro panel to place a cross symbol or other symbol on it. marking marks.

Military first aid kit - composition according to the NATO standard

The complete set of the first-aid kit in various branches of the armed forces and divisions varies somewhat. Combat swimmers, in particular, use a diving first aid kit. An airborne first-aid kit has been developed for airborne and naval troops. The flight crew uses an emergency first aid kit.
In addition, the composition of medicines and medical products may change based on the characteristics of the combat mission being performed, the level of training of the serviceman and the likelihood of potential damage by radiation, chemical or biological weapons.
Along with this, there are basic principles for completing the first-aid kit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are based, according to the order of the Ministry of Health No. 6 of 01/05/2017* , on NATO standards.

Harness (turnstile)

Obzornaja stat'ja Aptechki i pervaja pomoshh (8) The main component of the new tactical first aid kit is a hemostatic tourniquet (or tourniquet). In the old version, approved back in the USSR, Esmarch's rubber tourniquet was used as a hemostatic agent. It was canceled, referring to the fact that it is superimposed for a long time. And besides, rubber is prone to tearing, cracking in the cold and overdrying in the heat.

A completely different matter, according to doctors, is a NATO standard turnstile. It provides speed when applying and maintains the required pressure for a long time. Moreover, a wounded fighter will be able to apply a tourniquet on their own, using one hand. What is important - this remedy for stopping bleeding is not subject to damage due to temperature and physical influences.
According to the rules, the first-aid kit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must include two copies of the hemostatic tourniquet.

• hydrogel napkin to assist with burns;

• an isothermal blanket 160 x 210 cm on a polyethylene basis - for wrapping the wounded (when injured, a person quickly loses temperature, and this is dangerous, because at temperatures below normal - up to 35 degrees, etc.) d. - the blood will stop clotting);

• a nasopharyngeal airway for restoring impaired breathing in case of loss of consciousness, and a sachet of lubricant is attached to it; Obzornaja stat'ja Aptechki i pervaja pomoshh (3)

• tactical curved scissors for cutting military clothing and footwear;

• indelible blue marker for the treatment of small abrasions, as well as for applying information on the skin of the wounded about the time the tourniquet was applied;

Medications

The minimum minimum approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine includes three drugs:

  1. Paracetamol at a dosage of 500 mg / 2 tablets.
  2. Meloxicam at a dosage of 7.5 mg / 2 tablets.
  3. Broad-spectrum antibiotic levofloxacin at a dosage of 500 mg / 2 tablets (or ciprofloxacin 500 mg instead).
This composition gives an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. First, paracetamol quickly begins to act, and it anesthetizes for 6-8 hours. Then meloxicam takes effect - approx. for a day. The third component acts immediately. Its task is to reduce the risk of purulent complications of the wound.
Additional drugs may be present in the medicine cabinet. For example, tablets for water disinfection will not interfere.

A narcotic analgesic and anti-shock agent like nalbuphine hydrochloride is not issued to soldiers for an individual first-aid kit. According to the current Order (List) of 01/05/2017 No. No. 6, it is included only in the shoulder pad of a combined-arms medical orderly and the shoulder pad of a medical combined-arms sanitary instructor. And, as it says in the footnote under the List, it is completed in a special period. Dosage: 10 mg/ml 1 ml syringe for intramuscular injection. The drug is used to relieve acute pain, for example, when a limb is torn off.

Nalbuphine can be substituted for morphine hydrochloride (injectable form) or fentanyl (lozenges).
