Luftwaffe officer's dagger
The Versailles Treaty of June 28, 1919 forbade GermanyWe have our own air force. In order to get around this ban, Germany in March 1933 established the German Aviation Sports League, which united all civilian flying clubs under its banner. Hiding behind its "sports" sign, the NASL thus secretly trained military pilots. After Hitler came to power as chancellor, the air force was officially legalized and received a dagger as a ceremonial weapon. The first type of dagger adopted for service was subsequently modified in 1937G.
