This product was manufactured by Grand Way on the model of the Luftwaffe air force officer's ceremonial dagger (type 1937). It is a straight dagger with a faceted narrow blade equipped with two blades (NOT SHARPENED!). The souvenir dagger is not a melee weapon. It is worn in the sheath that is included in the kit.

Blade length 39.5 cm securely fixed to the handle. Its thickness: only 2.7 mm. Blade width: 3.1 cm.
The blade was made of 420 grade steel. It is very popular because it is “absolute stainless steel”. This advantage is determined by manganese and chromium, which prevail in the composition of the alloy.
Blade hardness Rc: 50 HRC (souvenir acceptable).

The Grand Way Dagger 9204 has a 16 cm long barrel-shaped handle. It is based on metal. The top of the handle is covered with dark artificial leather and wrapped around the grooves with silver wire. The head is made in the form of a disk, on both sides of which a swastika is depicted, and is decorated along the edge with a carved floral ornament.
Like the original 1937 Air Force daggers, the crosspiece of the souvenir has the appearance of an imperial eagle with outstretched wings. Their ends are bent down. The bird holds a swastika in its paws.

After the defeat in the First World War, Germany was forbidden to have a significant air force (according to the Versailles Treaty of 06/28/1919). The existing fleet was expelled to the British naval base Scapa Flow, and there it was flooded. Thousands of naval officers were left out of work. It was a great shame for the German nation.

When Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, the institution of the Luftwaffe acquired official status. According to the instructions, the "Honorary sword" (Ehrenschwert), which was usually called the "officer's sword" or "pilot's sword", relied on the dress uniform of his officers.
When creating it, German craftsmen took as a basis the Brazilian naval dagger from the time of Emperor Pedro II (which, in turn, was a copy of the Dutch weapon of the 1820s). The pommel of the first German naval dagger of the sample was screwed to it.1848 and eventually received an elegant thin Luftwaffe Air Force Dagger. In 1937, it was slightly modified.
Wearing the "Sword of Honor" in the Third Reich was stopped in December 1944.
