We would like to draw your attentionie on the rules for storing compasses.
Do not store compasses on metal hooks, or near any magnetized metal. Contact of the compass with metal will lead to demagnetization of the needle and incorrect operation. The compass will take a very long time to stabilize or will not show north at all. You can store several compasses next to each other. They magnetize each other and thus do not demagnetize.
Tip: if you want to check the compasses, then you do not need to put them next to each other, because they will show in differentsides. Spread them some distance apart and then they will show the right direction to the north.
